HFM Athletes Exhibit Sports Prowess

The district meet took place on January 28–29, 2023, and began with an opening ceremony attended by several schools in San Jose. The school heads, committees, principals, and coaches were present to assist the players. It can be seen that everyone is thrilled and excited to show off the best skills and dedication formed from the training in the schools. Moreover, with their igniting passion to bring home medals of hard work, the Montessori athletes proved that they are ever energetic during the ceremony.
The district meet basketball game started with Holy Family Montessori (HFM) winning against Golden Key Integrated School, but on the latter, the HFM basketball team lost against Saint Paul School (SPS) in the last game on the first day and against Taysan San Jose Integrated National High School (TSJINHS) on the second day. Still, HFM placed third in basketball. With high hoops and hopes, the varsity showed their burning passion to represent the school, Holy Family Montessori, our dear Alma Mater. In volleyball, the boys ended up winning a game against Golden Key Integrated School but losing two games against TSJINHS and Bigain Integrated National High School (BINHS). Meanwhile, the volleyball girls won against Golden Key Integrated School, SPS, and TSJINHS and proceeded to the finals against Dr. Bonifacio Masilungan Integrated National High School (DBMINHS). With determination, teamwork, and guidance from their coach, Tr. Trisha D. Bermejo, the players brought home silver medals. Two badminton girls and two badminton boys played for HFM, coached by Tr. Jizza Che Mayo. They played against several schools, including Golden Key Integrated School, TSJINHS, Marcos Espejo Integrated School (MEIS), SPS, and DBMINHS. One girl and one boy from the team won all three games and gained two gold medals. The table tennis tournament was held at Taysan San Jose Integrated National High School, where the HFM team showcased their talents, consisting of three junior high and five senior high school players, led by their coach, Tr. Chloe Alday. The table tennis team proved to be a dominant force, displaying incredible skill and strategy and bagging an impressive 7 gold and 1 silver medal in the tournament. The chess tournament took place at Padre Imo Luna Memorial Elementary School (PILMES), along with other sports categories. A grade 12 student, Shane Althea S. Aldueza, who won a gold medal, and a grade 11 student, Marco Briones, who finished in 4th place, represented HFM in this tournament, competing against 6 other high schools. According to Shane, in her first game, she felt nervous, lost the game, and realized how it could affect a play.
The Holy Family Montessori athletes performed excellently in the Palarong Pampurok of the district meet in San Jose, Batangas. Every athlete's success is a result of their teamwork, determination, and love for their sport.
